This depends on the age of your child.

With young children, parents have an active collaborative role and they are often seen with their child and alone.

When working with older children, you will also be included as parent or carer.

You will likely be involved in the assessment phase, and for younger children parents are met forehand alone to get a picture of difficulties.

Is CBT different for children and for adults?

Not really!

The theoretical principles are the same, however, therapy needs to be adapted to the child or young person developmental stage and unique diverse needs.

Online Cognitive Behavioural Therapy uses the same principles for children and adults:

  • structured sessions with an expert children and young people therapist
  • children and young people can learn strategies to change thinking and behavioural patterns,
  • young people and children reclaim their life leading to be the person they want to be
  • it is bespoke and tailored to the needs, goals and values of the young person
  • it collaborates with loved one if necessary
  • CBTenables children to understand their situation
  • and teaches practical skills too!

CBT can be combined with a variety of other skills, and therapy approaches, to find the individual mental health support that children and young people need.

At The Online Therapy Clinic, we deliver high quality child and adolescent therapy wherever and whenever is needed!
