EMDR for Trauma and PTSD

Trauma Therapy - Online trauma Therapist

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a psychotherapy initially developed for trauma and PTSD. It involves focussing in distressing memories while simultaneously engaging in bilateral stimulation, which could be eye movements, taps, or sounds.

This dual attention promotes the brain’s natural processing capabilities, allowing traumatic memories to be reprocessed and integrated more adaptively. By doing so, the emotional intensity attached to these memories diminishes, leading to symptom relief and improved psychological well-being. EMDR addresses not only the symptoms of trauma but also the underlying distressing memories, providing a holistic approach to healing.
